BDP Season 6 Information

The rules for purchasing sets in BDP Season 6 have not changed significantly from previous seasons. Sets for BDP Season 6 can only be purchased through crowdfunding from October 2025.

The pre-order quantity for each set is at least 3,000 pieces. Each person can purchase up to 2 sets of each set. A set is limited to a maximum of 30,000 sets, and this is a one-time production and will not be reprinted.

The sets that reach the crowdfunding quantity will be produced between October 2025 and March 2026 and shipped to fans that year. They will only be delivered and will not be sold in any offline physical stores.

The Bricklink platform said that these sets will be shipped within about 6 months after crowdfunding.

Other information:

Each BDP set will produce up to 30,000 copies (each person can pre-order up to 2 copies)

Sets that receive at least 3,000 crowdfunding copies will be put into mass production

There is a maximum of 1 sticker for every 250 parts, and a maximum of 25 stickers for the entire set

The instruction manual for the BDP set is only available in electronic version

The original author of the set can earn 5% royalties. This ratio is half of the previous one, but the output is three times the previous one.

About the Bricklink Designer Program

On November 26, 2019, the LEGO Group announced the acquisition of BrcikLink.

In 2021, LEGO officially announced the "BrickLink Designer Program", also abbreviated as BDP.

LEGO invited some authors of IDEAS unsuccessful works that reached 10,000 votes to participate in the competition, and then launched crowdfunding for some of these products.

Picture

We can simply understand BDP as "the crowdfunding model officially launched by LEGO, an advanced version of the LEGO IDEAS competition for heavy LEGO players."

Since BrcikLink has now become a company under the LEGO Group, all BDP sets use the production line and number naming library of LEGO official sets. These sets can be found in the LEGO official manual query, supplementary parts system and other channels, but they are not sold in stores.

BDP crowdfunded mass-produced sets are generally less restricted than IDEAS sets, with more parts, and the model's shape, subject matter, and assembly method are more inclined to adult players.

However, since BDP does not end one season completely and continue to the next season, different stages of different seasons are carried out simultaneously, which is why BDP is more boring and difficult to understand than the LEGO IDEAS competition.

The editor also tried to analyze here, if a fan designer's work successfully enters the crowdfunding stage and is shipped, how much money can he make? We use the minimum standard of 3,000 mass production quantities to calculate. If the model is converted into a medium-sized BDP set and the price is set at US$199.99, then the fan designer can at least get 3,000×199.99×0.05=29,998.5 US dollars

The relationship between LEGO IDEAS and BDP can also be found in our article "Let's talk about the development trend of the LEGO IDEAS platform".
